The Aizkorripean route begins at the Reception Point of the Trail Station in Anduetza. The trail goes up where the Zegama-Aizkorri marathon descends past the Oazurtza cabins. Once the highest point of the trail is reached, we come to the Mandabide path, a wide, grassy path that crosses the foot of the Aizkorri. We reach the Sancti Spiritu Hermitage from where we begin the descent along the Way of Saint James.
Many sections of the trail are marked with the yellow dots of the Zegama-Aizkorri marathon (although we climb in the opposite direction, they can be seen) and the signs of the Trail Station. On the descent, we can follow the yellow arrows of the Way of Saint James (although we climb in the opposite direction, they can be seen). However, for your safety, the use of a GPS is compulsory. The weather can change quickly which could lead to you getting lost in the mist. With snow or in bad weather, some of the markings will not be visible.
