Nordic skiing at Le Col d'Ornon

There are superb landscapes on both sides of the valley. On one side, the Taillefer and Grand Armet massifs and on the other, the Tête des Filons and Le Vallon. The Col d'Ornon Nordic skiing area winds through typical mid-altitude forest, acknowledged as the largest white alder forest in Europe. Four trails are traced and marked out for the enjoyment of both beginners and experienced cross-country skiers: - a green 2 km trail - a blue 4 km trail - a red 6 km trail - a black10 km trail (A loop of the black trail is ungroomed). A link (0.5 km) provides access to all cross-country trails from Le Plan du Col. The trails are groomed for both skating and classic styles. The obligatory ski passes are on sale at the "Le Chantelouve" cross-country skiing hostel and gîte.
