This relay of remembrance, in the colours of the Bleuet de France, is organised in support of the war wounded, widows/widowers and orphans of war, wards of the Nation, victims of war and terrorism and will be an opportunity to bring together various partners from the region (State services, military, associations, elected representatives, citizens, etc.) around the duty of remembrance via the organisation of patriotic ceremonies throughout the route and to involve a wider public, particularly young people (SNU and other schoolchildren). It is organised by the association le relais du souvenir and the ONACVG du Morbihan.
Given the current health situation, the number of runners will be limited and the relays will be carried out in accordance with health regulations.
On a daily basis, sport is also a great educational tool, a social mix and a bearer of the values of fraternity and respect. As part of the "Young Citizens' Sport" programme, this race also aims to develop the practice of sport and to make it, through concrete actions, a means of strengthening living together and education for citizenship.
The group of runners, made up of agents from the prefecture, the national police, the gendarmerie, the fire brigade and the military, will take part in the communes they pass through, at a time of exchanges with veterans and/or witnesses of the time, the inhabitants or elected representatives present.
At each stage, the runners will stop at the war memorial, where a short remembrance ceremony will be held in the presence of elected representatives and schoolchildren. A final ceremony will be held at 2pm at the Great War Memorial in Sainte-Anne d'Auray and will be part of the Ministry of the Armed Forces' remembrance programme relating to the war of 1870-1871 and the fighting at Bazeilles.
