This is the route of the famous Zegama-Aizkorri marathon. It is a demanding route that will take between 5-10 hours (depending on the level) to complete. This route is not signposted by the signs at the trail station, but is marked with yellow dots along the entire length of the course (signposting). The density of the signs is very high along the whole length of the trail, so if you do not see the signs all the time, go back to the previous point. However, for your safety, it is imperative to have a GPS. Climatology can change very quickly and can lead to fog banks that could lead you astray. On snowy or bad weather days, some of the signs will not be visible. The route starts in Place de Zegama. Leave the church on your right and you will come to a steep hill that leads to a path on the left after passing by the Izarra manor house. From here, you will have to follow the signs.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: there is a landslide at kilometer 36 that makes the passage difficult. There is an alternative, which is to take the path to the left at kilometer 32, in Itzubiaga, which will take us in 2km to the 38 kilometer.
