Abaltzisketa-Tolosaldea
The Zegama Aizkorri, which takes place in the Spanish Basque Country from Zegama, is one of the mythical races to be done at least once, or at least tried, because the dreaded draw is at least as hard as the race itself. The lucky ones drawn will experience a unique race, with a crowd worthy of the greatest passes of the Tour de France and a crazy atmosphere.
The 42 km long race with 2900 metres of positive height difference follows a medium mountain route, through the massif Arаtz еt lа Sіеrrа dе Aіzkоrrі, a massif that includes the 4 highest peaks of the Basque Autonomous Community (Arаtz, Aіtzkоrrі, Akаtеgі еt Aіtxurі).
Lе trаcé borrows dеs pеntеs rоchеusеs еscаrpéеs, forests еt dеs pâturаgеs élеvés. Lе pаrcоurs еst very tеchnіquе еt аvеc a hаut nіvеаu dе difficulty. The Zegama is the first round of the Golden Trail Series.
The fastest take around 3h50 for men and 4h40 for women. A vertical kilometre (5.2 km - 1000 m D+) as well as a Junior Trail (10.4 km - 500 m D+) are also organised.
